FanSina (from the Arabic fann Sina, meaning art of the Sinai) is a social enterprise in St. Catherine, a small village approximately six hours away from Cairo. The Bedouin handicraft culture, rooted in the Sinai region, showcases designs and materials that embody their nomadic desert lifestyles. FanSina works with artisans living in the mountains and valleys around Mt. Sinai. Women gather to embroider and bead clothing, decorative pieces, and household items inspired by local flora and fauna. Bedouin handicrafts have now become a vital source of income for families in the region.
